Do what you love.

As I'm working on the assignment that is due tomorrow, I have rediscovered why I love this topic. I chose a project that was not originally discussed on my project proposal but I'm sure I'm not alone on that one.
But I chose to do a lesson plan. A really extensive lesson plan for both high school and college level sex education.
It's very in depth and very informative and as I'm knee deep in statistics and empowering words I've remembered why I do what I do.
Not that I've forgotten, I just haven't gotten the chance recently to become fully emerged in something like this.
I hoping what I chose and what I complete reflects my passion for this topic and I hope to maybe use this one day.
The idea of me being able to help people in creating and maintaining a healthy life style in terms of their sexual health is really rewarding.
I want to help people in making their own decisions and I want to empower people. I want them to take control of what is theirs and I want them to be fully confident and educated in the choices they make.
Everyone deserves at least that much.

Okay I'm done.

I still have a long way to go on this assignment, so I'm probably getting no sleep tonight.

P.s. Caroline if you read this, I'll be making comments for this week and last week tomorrow. I'm not slacking, I've just be short on time.
Just throwin that out there.

  1. Hey, I'm super happy for you! It's great that you've found a topic that you're so invested in. I'm sure your finished product will be awesome.

I finished mine earlier in the day (before it got dark, even) and I had a hard time finding a good place to stop (mines a short story). I wanted to keep writing, but alas, time. I never have time for everything I want to do, sigh. But I was stoked that I got to do something that I actually wanted to continue on, which is rare. Usually when I finish something as quick as I can and throw it aside without looking at it.

    Anyway, cool!

  2. Hey there,
Super awesome you love your topic. Do you think you will ever get to use or implement the lesson plan? I made one as well and as I was making it I fully pretended that it would be used. Now I wonder though. It might end up in a dusty corner of my laptop forever. Kind of sad.

I hope that you get to use yours, especially because you are so passionate. I enjoyed mine and I am passionate about it but I don't think as much as other topics. I chose not to do the topic I know a lot about and did one a little different and now I wish I could go back. But it really isn't that big of a deal.
    Yay! Its done!

  3. I have been relating to everyones post today. I just wrote a couple comments about lacking time but I guess who isn't around this time in the term. I am finding all these different topics so interesting. I wish I could re-do mine. I feel like I could of searched for more interesting information but there isn't much out there. I discovered that I chose a topic that is relatively new, child pychology after natural disasters. I did my best. I sounds like you did a great job.

  4. I am also doing a lesson plan (for another class though) and I am just about ready to scream. This is no fun! Do teachers do this everyday? Making lesson plans I mean? Maybe it's the whole group project thing. I mean, we have to do so many revisions of the lesson plan just to get it right and there is so much to consider: is this really necessary? are we signaling people out? how will the students respond? will they be bored?

    Okay, I am done too.

Good luck and looking forward to hearing about it some more!

  5. The part about remembering why you do what you do is something I can relate to. It's not because you have forgotten, but because you "just haven't gotten the chance recently to become fully emerged in something like this." I oftentimes lose sight of my own passions because I get so busy and caught up in classes and work. But when opportunities, like this assignment, come along that allow you to rediscover your passions, why not take advantage of it? I'm glad you chose a topic you're passionate about and turned it into something that's applicable and can be used in the real world.
